Smart, but struggling.
Masking to keep up.
Wondering why it’s harder for you.
Maybe it was never laziness. Maybe it has a name.
You tried it all. You’re still exhausted from pretending.
Psychiatry in MotionFounded by Dr. Ahmed Al-Katib, MDWe assess the adults everyone else missed.
A real evaluation for adult ADHD and autism—the kind that takes high-maskers seriously. You finally get answers, not another shrug.
In-network with Aetna & UnitedHealthcare in NY · New York, Florida & New Jersey
We already know what’s stopping you.
“Am I just making it up?”
No. Most adults who have it were never caught—especially if you are bright or learned to mask. Wondering is reason enough to get a real answer.
“A doctor will say I’m fine.”
Many do—they dismiss anyone who copes well. We do the opposite. Assessing missed, high-masking adults is what we do.
“Isn’t it too late at my age?”
It is never too late. Answers at 30, 40, or 60 still change how you work, rest, and treat yourself.
What a missed diagnosis feels like.
You look fine, so no one asks. These are real, they are common, and they finally make sense once you have the full picture.
Masking is exhausting
You pass as fine all day, then crash in private.
Everything costs you more
Tasks others breeze through take everything you have.
Too much, or not enough
Told you are intense, sensitive, lazy—or all three.
Time slips away
Late, lost, or locked in for hours. No in-between.
The world is too loud
Sounds, lights, and crowds drain you fast.
A lifetime of why
Why is focusing, connecting, and resting so hard for me?
We specialize in the adults everyone else missed.
Researchers describe a “lost generation” of adults whose autism or ADHD was never caught in childhood—people who were bright, or who learned to mask, and so got looked right past. Many do not find out until they are well into adult life.
Psychiatry in Motion was built by Dr. Ahmed Al-Katib, MD, to catch what gets missed—and to treat you like the answer matters. Because it does.
A quiz can point. It can’t answer.
Online quizzes and TikTok brought a lot of people here—and that is a good thing. But a two-minute quiz cannot tell ADHD from anxiety, autism from trauma, or rule out what else is going on. It cannot give you a real diagnosis, a plan, or treatment.
We can. And we will not dismiss you for coping well.
A quiz can guess. A dismissive doctor won’t even look. We do the real thing—a full evaluation that takes you seriously.
A real evaluation is bigger than a label.
A label alone does not help you. Understanding how your brain actually works does. A psychiatric practice is trained to see the whole picture—and tell you what is really going on.
Psychology
How you think, focus, and relate—and where it breaks down.
Neurology
How your brain has been wired since birth.
Medicine
What else could look like this—and what we rule out.
Lifestyle
Sleep, movement, and support that fit how you are wired.
Put them together and you get clarity you can use, not just a word. That is the difference.
How we get you from stuck to In Motion.
Our program has a name you can claim: In Motion. It means you stop blaming yourself and start moving forward—with answers and a plan.
A real evaluation
Validated tools, a full life history, and time to listen. Not a ten-minute checkbox.
Answers in plain language
What it is, what it is not, and what it means for your life.
A plan that fits your brain
Support, skills, lifestyle, and medication only if you want it. Built for how you are wired.
One practice that stays
The same care team as you put it into practice. Stuck no more—In Motion.
A screener is a clue, not a diagnosis. A real evaluation takes time—and not everyone who wonders turns out to be ADHD or autistic. Sometimes it is something else, and that matters just as much. We tell you the truth either way.

Book an evaluation →Adult ADHD and autism evaluation: a complete guide
An adult ADHD and autism evaluation is a thorough clinical assessment—validated tools plus a full life history—that identifies neurodevelopmental conditions often missed in childhood, especially in bright adults or those who learned to mask. It is more than a quiz: it tells ADHD from anxiety, autism from trauma, and rules out what else could be going on.
Why adults get missed
For decades, ADHD and autism were seen as childhood conditions, and the picture clinicians were taught was narrow. Bright kids who coped, and especially girls and high-maskers, slipped through. Research now describes a “lost generation” of adults whose autism was never recognized in childhood. If that is you, the answer was never that you were lazy or broken.
Late-diagnosed ADHD and autism in adults
Finding out as an adult tends to bring relief and grief at once: relief that there is a reason, grief for the years spent blaming yourself. A diagnosis at 30, 40, or 60 still changes things—how you work, how you rest, the support you can ask for, and how kindly you treat yourself. It is never too late for the answer to matter.
Online quiz vs. a rushed doctor vs. a real evaluation
A two-minute quiz can point you here, and a five-minute appointment can wave you off. Neither is an evaluation. Here is the honest comparison:
| What you get | Online quiz | A rushed doctor | A real evaluation (us) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Takes high-maskers seriously | No | Often not | Yes |
| Full life history | No | No | Yes |
| Validated clinical tools | No | Sometimes | Yes |
| A real diagnosis | No | Maybe | Yes |
| A plan you can use | No | Rarely | Yes |
A quiz can guess. A dismissive doctor will not even look. We do the real thing.
